MOJÁCAR, SPAIN

      MOJÁCAR
                                                                                           The world's most beautiful kiss!

June 24th is a special day in Mojácar town known like one of the most beautiful towns all over the world. During the night of June 24th, Mojácar organizes a Romantic Night that is popular worldwide. During that night the town is full of in-love couples who go there to celebrate the love they feel for each other. The streets are full of heart-shaped balloons, flowers, live music, photo calls, romantic restaurants and fireworks. It is traditional that in-love couples walk along the romantic streets....
especially along the "Enmedio" street, where it is a tradition that in-love couples walk holding hangs....

...until mid night, when couples go to "Plaza Nueva" to see the fireworks and kiss each other.

That is why Mojácar is known as "The World's most beautiful kiss".

In Mojácar there are many fun things to do. If you travel with your unfurry buddy, the best option to stay is a pet friendly Airbnb. I took my human to La Terracita in Mojácar beach. It is a cozy one bedroom apartment, loft style, located in Mojácar beach. Its host Gabi was very nice and friendly to me and to my human.

I really enjoyed taking my "siesta" in the front terrace

In Mojácar village there are some nice places that you and your two-legged family can't miss. To name a few: El Mirador del Castillo...

The City Hall where you can see, on the floor, the Indalo Symbol characteristic in Mojácar.....

According to the legend, the Indalo represents a man holding a rainbow and it brings you protection and good luck. Check out this website for more information.

Near the city hall, you will see the Parterrer Square...

An old Arab necropolis where the tombs look towards Meca....

Right next to this square, you can visit Santa Maria Church... https://www.mojacar.es/lugares/la-iglesia/

Sometimes, its walls are covered by flowers and it is beautiful!!

In front of the church there is a little square and in the center, it is the Mojaquera Statue https://www.mojacar.es/lugares/estatua-mojaquera-del-campo/ which is a tribute to the women's work...

Just behind the statue, there is an ice-cream parlor where you can have delicious ice-cream or perhaps a glass of frozen mojito. Or if you prefer to have some local food, maybe you would like to go to Caffe Bar Plaza de la Iglesia. Food is delicious and good price.

Check out these links to find more places. In most of them, dogs are allowed in the outdoor area.

Another nice place that you´ll love is the flower´s square where you can find more places to eat or have a drink.

Perhaps, you would like to do some shopping, if so, go to Plaza Nueva https://www.mojacar.es/lugares/mirador-de-la-plaza-nueva/ . With spectacular views, it is surrounded by shops where your humans will be able to by clothes, gifts or maybe some traditional jewelry in La Ermita https://tienda-la-ermita-mojacar-pueblo.negocio.site/?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=referral

Or if you prefer, you can have some drink in some of the colorful bars that are in the square...
Or maybe make some new friends...

By the way, in this café bar you can see flamenco shows by recognized flamenco dancers! Here you have more information.

At this point, you might be thinking that you don't feel like walking that much to the old area of the town where all these things are located. No worries!!!!  There is an elevator that you and your human can take to get to the top.

Before leaving Mojácar town, I would like to recommend visiting two more places. The cave of Mariquita de la posá. The legend says that there was a beautiful young woman who married to a wizard to save the town from a very contagious disease that was causing the death of many people.

Take a look to these links to know more about it:

Finally, at the entrance of the town you will find the Arab Fountain (La Fuente Mora) or Public Fountain. With 13 taps this fountain is where Arabs surrendered and gave the town's keys to the Catholic King and Queen in 1488 https://www.mojacar.es/lugares/la-fuente/

Maybe you are now thinking, what about the beach? Do not worry! Mojácar also has nice beaches. Take a look to these pictures...

During the day, dogs are not allowed on the beach, but at the sunset, there are some areas where you can go to play on the beach and make some furry friends...

Mojácar beach is a buzzing area. It is full of restaurants and bars all along the beach https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g11945976-Mojacar_Playa_Province_of_Almeria_Andalucia.html

One of my favorite is BLUE https://blumojacar.com/ where you can have hand-made ice cream among other things. They love dogs, by the way!!

Nights in Mojácar beach are vibrant. There are many cool beach clubs where your human can go to have a drink. In some of them there is live music and dogs are allowed. These are some of the clubs I took my human.

Either during the day or at night, you will love it. It has this cool area on the beach to chill out while having a cocktail.

ALMA beach club https://www.almamojacar.com/. You will love this place!!! Good cocktails and good music.

AKU AKU http://akuakumojacar.es/ Bar and Grill during the day, they are specialized in paellas. During the evening, they hold amazing funk and jazz concerts.

If you are staying some days in Mojácar, perphaps you would like to visit some other places nearby. For instance, GARRUCHA

It is a nice town 10 minutes driving from Mojácar. It is popular for its lively port and beautiful beaches with vast extensions of white sand and transparent water.

The port of Garrucha is one of my favorite places http://www.puertosdeandalucia.es/en/

There are lots of cool things to do. For example, have some drink or local food in some of the many bars that are in the port.

By the way! You have to take your humans to eat red shrimps since they are very popular in this town.

Or.... how about some water sports? there are some places in the port to do fun and adventurous activities.

If you like fish, maybe you would like to take your human to the LONJA http://www.garrucha.es/Servicios/cmsdipro/index.nsf/informacion.xsp?p=Garrucha&documentId=364FE45593D1DD7EC125797B003E8B69 where you can buy fresh fish.

In Garrucha, people feel very proud of their fishermen. They have this monument to honor them

As well as, this statue of Carmen Virgen facing the sea to protect those fishermen who go to the sea to work every day.

Right next to Garrucha beach you will see Vera beach. Beaches in Vera are spectacular!!

Have your human to take a look to these links to find out more bout it.

To the opposite side of Mojácar beach, there is another cool place that you can't miss. It is the Macenas Castle https://andaluciarustica.com/castillo-de-macenas.htm

It is located in a quiet beach where dogs usually take their humans, so you will be able to swim, play on the sand and make some four-legged friends.

IT IS ALREADY NIGHT

SEE YOU IN THE NEXT ADVENTURE!!!
