CARLOW COUNTY, IRELAND

THE DOLMEN COUNTY!

       Hey there!

We are in Carlow County, another beautiful area in Ireland. It is known as "The Dolmen County" because of the Brownshill Dolmen, a 6,000-year-old megalithic portal tomb which is reputed to have the heaviest capstone in Europe.

Carlow is a small county but with a lot of interesting history. In these links  you can find more information about it:

Let's see some of the things you can do with your humans in Carlow County.

CARLOW TOWN

It is a small but charming town that you would like to visit. On Saturdays morning, you and your humans can visit "Carlow Farmers Market". It is a street market held at the Potato Market Square, in the center of the town.

Every week, farmers sell their fresh and artisan products (meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, pastries...). There is a stand with artisan cheese and another one with artisan bread, that my humans love! You can see them in this picture 😍

You can buy the products that you need and also eat something there. Some of the stands also cook the food for you and they serve coffee or drinks. You can sit in one of the tables that some of the stands have, although most of people sit at the Potato Market Square. Some people even bring there chairs, and there is live music. Dogs are welcome since everything is outdoor. Tell your human to explore this website to find out more:

After having a delicious brunch at the market, you can go with your humans to the Carlow Town Park. https://www.inspirock.com/ireland/carlow/carlow-town-park-a6379971463
It is a lovely park for walking and leisure activities. It has a beautiful river front to walk all along, with bridges and a lake with swans.

I was trying to say "Hi! nice to meet you".

In the park you can also find a playground area for kids and a picnic area, as well as many types of trees, flowers and plants. It is very green!

If after playing in the park your humans would like to have a coffee or a drink there are some pet-friendly cafés, bars and restaurants although, most of the time, dogs are usually welcome in the outdoor of any café or bar. One of the most popular dog-friendly restaurants is LENNONS @ VISUAL https://www.pawsfriendly.com/businesses/lennons-visual. They have great food and they love dogs 😀
Likewise, the café NEIGHBOURHOOD ESPRESSO in the city center, is dog-friendly https://www.facebook.com/neighbourhoodespressocarlow/

There is a small station with toys and water for dogs...

Another cool thing you can do with your tow-legged family in Carlow County is to go for a long walk to the another part of the river. There is a nice trail, where you can walk, ride your bike or skate.
The landscape is beautiful...

And at the end of the trail I saw cows for the first time!!!

 They were HUGE!!

One of the most visited places in Carlow is the:

                                                OAK PARK FOREST PARK

It is a woodland of about 120 acres, with a broad
diversity of species of plants, flowers and trees.

There are several trails, a beautiful picnic area next to a big lake, an outdoor exercise area with equipment to do some cardio and tone your muscles, and a big play area for children.

The landscape is amazing, full of beautiful tones of green..

Some areas are accessible for people with reduced mobility, although some parts are not in very good conditions.

Dogs are welcome, although you must be on your leash.
However, if there are not many people, there are some areas where you can play off-leash with your frisbee or ball... if you find it.....😆

So far, these are the things I have done in Carlow County. I will tell you more as soon as I have more adventures in Carlow 😀

I CAN'T WAIT.....

TO SEE YOU IN THE NEXT ADVENTURE!
